Jesus is Calling - Will You Step Up?

What if I told you that the Savior of the world is calling your name right now? In John 1:43-51, we see Jesus in action—reaching out to the lost, inviting them into a life of purpose, and sparking a movement that’s still alive today. He called Philip with a simple “Follow me,” and Philip couldn’t help but run to Nathanael with the news. Jesus met Nathanael’s doubts with grace and promised him a glimpse of glory. This isn’t just a nice story—it’s a challenge staring us in the face. Jesus is calling you, yes, you, and He’s not stopping there. He’s daring you to join Him in calling others. Are you ready to answer?

He’s Calling You—Don’t Miss It

Imagine Jesus walking up to you like He did Philip, saying, “Follow me” (v. 43). No resume required, no perfection demanded—just an invitation from the King of Israel who knows you inside out. He saw Nathanael under the fig tree before anyone else did (v. 48), and He sees you too—your struggles, your doubts, your hopes. Maybe you’re weary from life’s grind or coasting comfortably in your faith. Either way, Jesus is calling you closer. The question is: will you listen? Don’t let distraction or fear drown out His voice. He’s offering you a front-row seat to His mission—don’t settle for the sidelines.

You’re Called to Call Others—Step Out!

Philip didn’t hoard Jesus’ call. He bolted to Nathanael, declaring, “We have found the one!” (v. 45). When Nathanael scoffed, Philip didn’t back down—he invited, “Come and see” (v. 46). Here’s where it gets tough: Jesus isn’t just calling you to follow; He’s calling you to be a megaphone for Him. That coworker stuck in a rut, that neighbor who’s lost hope—they need to hear about Jesus, and you’re the one standing in their path. Stop waiting for the “right time” or the perfect words. The gospel doesn’t need your polish—it needs your courage. Who will you invite to “come and see” this week?

Trust the Gospel—Don’t Force It

Philip didn’t argue Nathanael into faith. He met him where he was, told him the truth about Jesus, and invited him to learn from Jesus himself. Jesus also, did not debate Nathanael. He simply revealed His power, and let the truth sink in (vv. 47-49). Sharing Jesus isn’t about winning debates or rushing someone to a decision—it’s about trusting the gospel to do its work. Be real. Be patient. Pray like it matters. The Holy Spirit’s got this, and He’ll move when the time’s right. So, ditch the pressure and lean into the promise that God’s Word never returns empty. Your job? Plant the seed. His job? Make it grow.

Glory Awaits—Keep Going!

Jesus didn’t stop with a small sign for Nathanael. He promised, “You will see greater things than this” (v. 50)—a vision of heaven’s wonders (v. 51). That’s your future too if you answer His call. Every tough conversation, every bold step, every prayer for the lost is building toward a day when you’ll see Jesus in all His glory. The road might feel long, but this hope isn’t a fairy tale—it’s a fire to keep you moving. Don’t give up now; the best is yet to come!

No Excuses—You’re Commissioned

Here’s the kicker: if Jesus has called you, you’re on the hook to call others. Philip didn’t wait for a title or a training course—he just went (v. 45). You don’t need to be a pastor or a saint. You’ve got a story of Jesus finding you, and that’s enough to start. All who are called are called to call out—it’s that simple, and that serious. So, what’s holding you back? Fear? Busyness? Shake it off. Jesus is calling through you, and the lost are waiting.

The Challenge: Act Now

Church, we serve an incredible Savior who’s on the move, and He’s counting on us. You’re not alone—He sees you, equips you, and promises you glory. But this isn’t a feel-good pep talk—it’s a wake-up call. The lost are all around us, and we carry the hope they’re desperate for. Don’t sit on this. Be a Philip. Step out boldly, trust deeply, and watch God work.

Call to Action: This week, pick one person—a friend, a family member, a stranger—and invite them to “come and see” Jesus. Maybe it’s a church service (Easter’s coming!), a coffee chat about your faith, or a simple text with a Bible verse. Do it. Then pray for them daily. Let’s join Jesus in His mission together—because He’s worth it, and they’re worth it. Share your story with us next Sunday; we can’t wait to hear how God moves!

Will you answer the call?

In His Grace,
